Red Tide USB 650 with Pi 5

Sorry if this keeps coming back up, but I have about 60 Red Tide USB650's that I would like to use in our teaching labs with Pi5's running bookworm. I was wondering if there was any progress with compatibility? I could try to pull the firmware if that's what's needed if someone could coach me through how to do it, I'm not exactly an expert in this type of thing (first post in Github).

Edit: okay I was able to use USBPROGRAMMER as recommended here https://www.oceanoptics.com/software/resources/ I uploaded screen shots for the 650 and the 4000 I have to compare it to, its strange that the 650 does not have a firmware version listed there but in LoggerPro its listed as 2.44.01, I'm assuming I would have to upgrade this to version 2.51.0. ? dunno where I would get the updated firmware. I have the same spectrometer

I'm currently working on a research project with SC space grant consortium, and my project is on assembling layer by layer thin film structures.

currently I am trying to get the exact same spectrometer to work to analyze the slides with the thin films. For context I am using a microscope controlled with a python script I wrote to scan over the slide, and I want to include code that will analyze the slide with the spectrum analyzer every millimeter or so. Is there a way I can get this quickly up and running and control it with python?

I should also probably clarify that I am using windows and not a raspberry pi like the person above is using.
whenever I try to set it up I get "no unopened device found."
